SUENOS Y SONRISAS
HONDURAS
Sueños y Sonrisas is a Community Center in La Paz, Honduras, that serves the people in the village of Buenos Aires. The building provides meals, clean water, sanitation, prayer services, biblical education, and English literacy to impoverished and abandoned children. Several mothers of these children come to serve and receive resources as well.

Due to a high level of unequal pay and educational underdevelopment in Honduras, 75% of children and families have little to no education. Decreased sanitation and high contamination have created a low supply of clean water and bathroom facilities, which causes sickness and disease. About 60% of Hondurans live below the poverty line.
Serve the Kingdom International Ministries works with Sueños y Sonrisas and many other communities in La Paz to change this. Since its creation in 2023, STK has increased meals for women and children from two to four per week, but the work does not stop there. We are now working with WaterStep International to bring purified water to their church communities. As we continually develop our initiatives, the communities we serve are being transformed from the inside out.
OUR Leadership
FANNY LETICIA
Director of Suenos y Sonrisas
(orange shirt)
Fanny Leticia, commonly known as Letty, has lived in La Paz her whole life, just like her parents did. Years ago, she had a dream to create a space near the poorest part of her city where children and their families could be fed, clothed, educated, and given the Gospel. With her sights set on the unreached village of Buenos Aires, Letty would spend Saturday afternoons passing by the community's homes, greeting the families by name. She was often accompanied by other ladies from church who prepared meals to give to each resident. As time progressed, Letty developed close relationships with families. She can tell you who lives where, and if someone is not present, she takes notice and asks about them. The people of the community feel her love and know that they are not forgotten.
Lyndsee Martinez
Missionary, American Representative
(green shirt)
Lyndsee Martinez first came to La Paz, Honduras in March 2018 as a chaperone for 25 high school students. On the last day of the trip, they visited the village of Buenos Aires, where she felt the spiritual impact of God’s calling. The need was rampant: trash was everywhere, stray dogs drank out of contaminated sewage water streams, and walls were formed of mud and sticks. This was their home. When she came back the following year with another mission team, a man approached her and told her about the project at Sueños y Sonrisas. After telling her the need, he left prayed over and with $880 dollars to build a roof. As of 2024, she has returned 14 times. She is all in, giving God the glory in all things.
Luis Carlos Martinez
Civil Engineer, Designer
The first thing that you should know about Luis Carlos Martínez Manueles is that he has a heart for God and loves to serve others. He would tell you that helping others gives him the most satisfaction in life. Sueños y Sunrisas is fortunate enough to be blessed with not only his heart, but also his incredible gifts and talents in the fields of engineering and design. Luis is a Civil Engineer. He studied this trade in college and received his degree, but struggles to find consistent work in the field, which is common in the Honduran labor force. Despite not having a steady income, he chooses to stay in the career that he loves. Luis is also an artist, but he doesn't market it much. He enjoys the challenge of architecture and has created amazing drawings, renderings, and building plan samples. Locals contract him to draw house plans or remodeling plans.
Team Members
Students, Leaders
This current picture highlights the March 2024 Mission Team that traveled to La Paz, Honduras from Southern Indiana and Northern Kentucky. Together as students, teachers, parents and volunteers, we were able to spend much of our week at Suenos y Sonrisas. Many team members pictured here fell in love with the project and were inspired to develop fundraising solutions for ongoing needs and for the future education and commerce training the Buenos Aires children. Mike and Maria Conley and Ashton Becht are group leaders who jumped on board to go, not realizing how much of an impact they would make on the community and how much of an impact it would have on them. Serve the Kingdom Ministries is beyond grateful to have amazing leaders and volunteers who have amazing vision and commitment to the children of Suenos y Sonrisas.
OUR HISTORY
Sueños y Sonrisas traces its origins back to 2010 when Fanny Leticia, commonly known as Letty, had a vision of a community center that would transform the lives of everyone around it. She gave it to the Lord, and he took control.
After seven years of patience, the vision for Sueños y Sonrisas was established in 2017. Excavation began, walls were erected,
and church construction began. The following year, the church got a roof and gates were added around the community center. In 2019, bathrooms were added. Two years later, construction on La Cocina (the kitchen) and the dining hall began and was completed. In 2022, Sueños y Sonrisas gained power. In 2023, fans were added in La Cocina to assist with airflow and classroom
construction began with building walls, which has continued into 2024.
